Private Piano Lessons

Private piano lessons are tailored to the student’s age and interests and the teacher’s recommendations, using reputable curriculum, supplemental music, games, and other activities. There is a strong emphasis on learning to read music well, understanding and performing pieces rhythmically and expressively. Students also learn about chord structures and using lead sheets and chord charts.

  • A non-refundable registration fee of $75 will be due upon enrollment. There will be a registration fee per student for each year. This is used to help offset the expense of incidentals that benefit the students, such as incentive materials, printing costs, professional development, piano tuning/maintenance, recital expenses, etc.

The fee for 45-minute lessons is $165.00 per month.

The monthly fee is based on an annual tuition. The monthly payment will remain the same each month, regardless of the number of lessons in the month.

Lesson fees are payable before or on the first day of each month.

Zelle is a fantastic way to pay using my email contact information. Cash or checks are also accepted. Some families find it helpful to set up monthly payments through their online banking.

  • Eventually, a fully functional and well-tuned piano (with a functioning damper pedal) or an electronic keyboard with weighted keys (with a functioning damper pedal) will be needed for daily practice. The teacher can help by making suggestions for a good-quality keyboard.

  • Students will purchase lesson books and additional music as needed.

  • Consistent attendance is best for steady progression and success! Of course, students have to miss a lesson from time to time due to illness, transportation issues, conflict with special events, and such.

There are two great options to avoid missing that lesson time completely:

    • A FaceTime or online lesson can be scheduled during your regular lesson time if the student is well enough to participate but may not be in the studio.

    • You may participate in a Swap List containing parent names and lesson times. You may arrange with another parent to swap lesson times for that week.

There are no make-up lessons scheduled for student absences.

Students/parents agree to arrive at each lesson on time with their assignment notebook and music. When students are late, lessons will not be extended past the scheduled ending time.

  • When students enroll, they reserve their lesson time for the entire year. If a student must withdraw from lessons before the year ends, one month’s paid notice is required.

  • Establishing a routine practice time is very important. Getting to the piano, even for just a few minutes most days, will help create a good practice habit for the future. Your child can practice what we did together in class or experiment and create at the piano.

  • You or another adult who is well-known to your child will attend class with your child as an observer. Observers are limited to one adult per student.

  • Each class is 45 minutes long. The program will run year-round, with opportunities to purchase a package of eight lessons every eight weeks or a monthly fee of $65. At the end of Mini Musicians One, we will continue into Mini Musicians Two. We follow the same teaching calendar as private lesson students.
